Title NTPC Signs Nuclear Pacts with Rosatom and EDF for PWR Projects

The Nuclear Leap of NTPC: Increasing The Power Supply Through Global Collaboration

Hello folks! You won't believe what NTPC, India's leading electricity provider, has just announced - they have teamed up with experts from Russia and France to build huge nuclear power plants in India! This is exciting news for all because NTPC just signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with Rosatom, Russia's nuclear company, and the EDF (Electricity de France), the French nuclear supplier. These partnerships will provide India with new technology in the form of large PWR (pressurised water reactors), which will greatly increase the electricity generating capacity of India.

Through these agreements, NTPC will create all phases of the nuclear plant project development and construction. The primary focus will be to manufacture components used in the nuclear plants and construct the plants locally in India (i.e. 'Make in India') with the assistance of internationally recognised nuclear companies.

As many of you know, the nuclear industry has experienced a significant number of changes in India, due to changes in the laws governing the use of nuclear energy, which have only recently allowed private companies to participate in the development and operation of nuclear energy in India as well as amended the liability provisions to allow foreign companies to now invest in nuclear energy in India and manufacture equipment to supply to the nuclear plants in India. For many years, the inability for foreign companies to invest in nuclear energy due to the long-standing issues related to the liability provisions within the laws governing nuclear energy was an obstacle to foreign companies' investment in nuclear power in India. Now, because of these changes, foreign nuclear companies can now invest in nuclear energy in India.

What is all the excitement about? Nuclear energy provides clean and dependable energy to many, as well as reducing the reliance on burning coal and reducing pollution. With the continued increase in demand for electricity in India, the installation of PWRs will allow Indian cities and industries to receive electricity without adding to their carbon footprint.
